Spin the wheel – sketch a prompt OR complete an art dare. Creative fun for everyone!

Sketch or Dare is a unique hybrid game that combines spontaneous sketching challenges with creative dares. Unlike standard drawing prompts, this game forces you to think on your feet – sometimes you'll draw a dragon, other times you'll have to draw with your non-dominant hand or sketch with your eyes closed. It's the perfect activity for art classes, creative team building, or just a fun evening with artist friends.
The wheel randomly selects either a sketch prompt (e.g., "draw a cat wearing a hat") or an art dare (e.g., "sketch without looking at the paper"). You then complete the challenge, share your result, and let everyone vote on the best sketch. The game is endlessly customizable – you can add your own prompts using the edit panel.
Step 1: Choose your mode – Classic (balanced), Hardcore (advanced), or Kids (simple).
Step 2: One player spins the wheel. The wheel will land on either a sketch prompt or an art dare.
Step 3: The player completes the challenge. For sketch prompts: draw the thing (on paper, tablet, or whiteboard). For dares: perform the action (e.g., "draw with your left hand").
Step 4: The group judges the result (encourage laughter, not cruelty). Award points for creativity, speed, or funniness.
Step 5: Rotate turns. The next player spins and does their challenge.
Many artists suffer from creative block – they stare at a blank page and don't know what to draw. Sketch or Dare solves that by forcing a random, often silly, prompt. It also includes art dares that push you out of your comfort zone: drawing with your non-dominant hand, using only straight lines, or sketching upside down. These constraints can actually unlock new creative directions. The time pressure (implied by the wheel) adds excitement and reduces overthinking.
Here are popular sketch prompts that work for beginners and pros alike:
Our wheel includes many of these, plus you can add your own.
Teachers have discovered that Sketch or Dare is a fantastic icebreaker for art classes. It warms up students, reduces the fear of "drawing wrong", and injects humor into the classroom. For remote learning, share your screen over Zoom/Google Meet and have students complete challenges on their own paper, then hold up the results. The "Kids & Beginners" mode ensures age-appropriate prompts.
Set up a timer (1 minute per challenge). Each player takes a turn spinning. After each challenge, show the result to the group. You can award "points" for the most creative, funniest, or speediest sketch. For virtual parties, use a shared whiteboard tool like Jamboard, or have players draw on paper and show their work to the camera.
The edit section lets you add your own sketch prompts or art dares. For example, you could add seasonal themes (Halloween: "draw a pumpkin ghost"), inside jokes ("draw our friend as a superhero"), or specific art techniques ("draw using cross-hatching"). Remove any default items that don't fit your group. The changes are instant and you can reset anytime.
TikTok and Instagram artists use Sketch or Dare to create "drawing challenge" videos. The randomness ensures every video is unique. You can film your reaction, the drawing process, and the final result. The built‑in confetti and animations make the wheel itself visually appealing. Use hashtags like #SketchOrDare, #DrawingDare, #ArtChallenge to reach creative audiences.
Sketch or Dare is more than a game – it's a creativity engine. It breaks you out of ruts, forces you to try new techniques, and guarantees laughs along the way. Whether you're an experienced illustrator or a casual doodler, the wheel will push you to create things you never expected. Bookmark this page, share it with your art club, and let the sketching begin!
